+ In the name of the Father, and of the
Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we
forgive them who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our
death.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
An Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You; I detest all my
sins, because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You,
my God, who are all-good and deserving of my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid
the occasion of sin.
Amen.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was
conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He
descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended
into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come
again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion
of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting.
Amen.
An Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe all the truths that the Holy Catholic Church
believes and teaches; I believe in these truths, o Lord, because you, the
infallible Truth, have revealed them to her. In this faith I am resolved
to live and die.
Amen.
An Act of Hope
O my God, relying on your promises, I hope that, through the infinite merits
of Jesus Christ, you will grant me pardon for my sins, and the graces necessary
to serve you in this life and to obtain eternal happiness in the next.
Amen.
An Act of Charity
O my God, I love you with my whole heart and above all things, because you
are infinitely good and perfect; and I love my neighbour as myself for love of
you. Grant that I may love you more and more in this life, and in the next
for all eternity.
Amen.
Hail, holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy; hail our life, our sweetness and our
hope! To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we
send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and
after this, our exile, show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, has
purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech you, that
meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Australia
Lord, You place deep in our hearts the love of Mary, Help of
Christians. Through her prayers grant wisdom to our leaders and
integrity to our citizens. Under her protection may Australia be granted
harmony, justice and peace.
O God, powerful and gentle, You love this southern land and all its
peoples, old and new. As the Cross shines in our heavens so may Christ
bring light to our nation. As the waves circle our shores so may your
mercy enfold us all.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Angelus
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary;
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord;
Be it done unto me according to your word.
And the Word was made flesh;
And dwelt among us.
Pray for us, O holy mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech you, o Lord, your grace into our hearts, that we to whom
the incarnation of Christ, your Son, was made known by the message of an angel,
may by his passion and cross be brought to the glory of his resurrection,
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen
Memorare
Remember, O most loving virgin Mary, that it is a thing unheard of, that
anyone ever had recourse to your protection, implored your help, or sought your
intercession, and was left forsaken.
Filled, therefore, with confidence in your goodness I fly to you, o mother,
virgin of virgins. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful
sinner. Despise not my words, O mother of the Word of God, but graciously
hear and grant my prayer.
Amen.
Prayer to St Michael
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in the hour of battle; be our protection
against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we
humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God,
thrust Satan down to hell and with him all the wicked spirits who wander through
the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Prayer to the Guardian Angel
O Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here;
Every this day be at my side
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.
A Daily Act of Consecration
Immaculate Virgin Mary, my Mother, I consecrate myself to you this day, and
forever, so that you may dispose of me as you wish for the salvation of
souls. I ask you only, my Queen and Mother of the Church, that I may
cooperate faithfully with your mission in the coming of the kingdom of God on
earth. I offer to you, Immaculate Heart of Mary, all my prayers, works,
joys and sufferings of this day.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who
have recourse to you, and for all who do not have recourse to you, especially
for the enemies of Holy Church and those recommended to you.
Good Counsel Devotions
Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel
Most Glorious Virgin, chosen by the eternal Counsel to be the Mother of the
Eternal Word made Flesh, Treasure of Divine Grace and Advocate of Sinners, we,
the most unworthy of thy servants, supplicate you to be our guide and counsellor
in this valley of tears.
Obtain for us, by the Most Precious Blood of your Son, pardon for our sins,
salvation for our souls, and the necessary means to secure it.
Grant that the Holy Catholic Church may triumph over evil, and that the
Kingdom of Christ may be propagated on earth.
Amen.
O Mary, Mother of good Counsel, pray for us; obtain for us many holy
priests and religious and the grace to save our souls.
Amen.
Prayer for Vocations
Pray you, therefore, the Lord of the Harvest, that He send labourers into the
harvest.
O Mother of Good Counsel, pray for your children, that they may know their
vocation and follow it.
Lord Jesus Christ, who commanded us to pray that labourers be sent into the
harvest, enlighten the minds and give strength of will to young men and women
that they may take up their cross and follow the religious life in the Order of
Saint Augustine, faithfully persevering in it until death.
Amen.
Hymn to Our Lady of Good Counsel
O Virgin Mother, Lady of Good Counsel,
Sweetest picture artist ever drew,
In all my doubts I fly to you for guidance,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
By thy face to Jesus' face inclining
Sheltered safely 'neath thy mantle blue;
By His little arms around thee twining,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
When my soul is most perplexed and weary,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
By the light within thy dear eyes dwelling,
By the tears that dim their lustre too,
By the story that those tears are telling,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
In thy guidance tranquilly reposing,
Now I face my toils and cares anew,
All through life and at its awful closing,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
All through life and at its awful closing,
Mother, o tell me, what am I to do?
