On Sunday, 14 August, Parish Moderator, Father Brian Fitzpatrick, conducted a formal commissioning ceremony to begin the new Council's year of activity.  Our photo report of the ceremony follows.

When a couple find that Father Time has caught up with them and it is time for them to move to a retirement village to enjoy the next stage of their lives together, it can be a time of sad farewells.  Marie and Noel, committed parish members for almost fifty years, shared the celebration of Mass recently and then joined parishioners in the hall for refreshments.

Noel addressed the gathering sharing the happiness of the memories of their time at St James and Marie gave a beautiful summary of their outlook for the next stage as she said,  "We are doing this together!"

Two Catholic schools are found within the Parish of St James.

The first of these is the Parish School of St James, Coorparoo.

This is a primary school catering for all students  from Year 1 through to Year 7.  The school's Principal is Mr Peter McKee.
